Title of current research: Modified Hyaluronic acid nanoparticles as targeted vehicles for cancer therapy.
Ravit Edelman joined Livney’s lab in 2008 as a researcher in a study on the effect of sugar stereochemistry on water structure and on protein stability under the supervision of Prof. Yoav D. Livney and Prof. Simcha Srebnik. It involved the development of a computer simulation comparing different monosaccharide isomers compatibility with ice lattice.
Ravit received her B.Sc. (Cum Laude) in Biotechnology and Food Engineering in 2009. Ravit completed her PhD (Direct track) in the Interdisciplinary Program of Biotechnology at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology under the supervision of Prof. Yoav D. Livney and Prof. Yehuda G. Assaraf (Biology). Her thesis involved the development of “quadrugnostic” nanoparticles for cancer diagnostics and therapy which will harbor in the same nanoparticle, four synergistic components, including a selective targeting moiety, a cytotoxic drug, a chemosensitizer for overcoming a well-defined mechanism of multidrug resistance, and a diagnostic element for the localization of the malignant tumor and its distant metastases.
